Deep Breath Long Sigh

Well today was the day I went to MEPs to join the Army. Got out of bed at 3am and on the road at 4. We got to the station at about 5:30 5:45. At about 6 they briefed us outside and sent us in to our respective department where we got our name tag. Then your took your bio metrics. Finger print, finger print, face. In the words of the lady guiding us in this process. After the biometrics we sat down and back up and back down moving from chair to chair to get our folder for our medical eval. After talking to the first Doc they took our weight and height then put us in another briefing room where we stayed for hours. No lie I did not leave that room until maybe 10am. Filing out more paper work and taking a Breathalyzer. by this time I really needed to pee. And to my luck they called for any 2 of us to go take our urine test. Lets just say I was the first one out of the room. Longest pee ever :) Then proceeded to the hearing test, blood draw, vision test, physical, duck walk and then the final exam by thee chief doc. by the way I had 1's across the medical profile. Top shape. All of this taking me clear until noon. I then report back to the Army liaison office. After giving them my paper work they tell me to go eat. Sit down and start eating Maybe a bite or 2 into this great military chow I hear my named called over the PA. So I leave my tray with another Army applicant watching my food. The liaison told me that I am still an E-4. And will be for another year. There are no spots open for an E-4 in the Army at this moment. Meaning A. Wait a year and get dropped to an E-3 and then join or B. When the new fiscal year starts they may have an E-4 opening and I can then join. How this happened you may ask?... Quick break down. Go out of the Navy June of 04.... then inactive reserves until July 08. My recruiter over looked this and so did I. So technically I have only been out for 2 years and you need 3 to be dropped a rank. At least my medical is good for 2 years. So if I go back the only thing I will need to do is pick an MOS and be in the Army. Time to see how all this is going to play out.
