Back to the Service

As a very few of you know I am trying to get back in the Navy. This also goes hand and hand for the reason I joined in the first place. Navy SEALs. I like the Navy so don't get me wrong. I just don't see myself sitting on a boat for the rest of my 16years in the Navy. However, I think my dream of becoming a SEAL is now at its end. Not because I wasn't strong enough or that I didn't have the right mindset. It is because I had a collapsed lung back in 04. There is nothing that I did that caused this to happen. There are people healthier than me that this same thing has happened to. Some have died because it was both lungs and not just one. So in that, I am lucky. I am still going to try for the SEALs even at the end of it I think they are going to tell me no because of my lung. I probally won't even see BUD/s. On the bright side of things while my lung may stop me from doing Naval Special Warfare, the Navy now has other programs that I may be able to be apart of, all depending if I can even get back in the Navy. Lets just wait and see what happens and lets all hope I get a medical waiver to go to BUD/s once I am at that point.

Lottery

Last night i purchased a lottery ticket. I never look at my numbers. Well I stopped at the store afterward to pick up some dinner. on the drive back home the number 27 flashed in my head. I was like that's the power ball number. I tried to get other numbers to come to me but they never did. Also i never watch the drawing that night I always check on the computer the next day. to my surprise the power ball was 27. Now if i could have only got the rest of the numbers I would have been rich. Plus I play quick picks so I never know. I did end up winning 3 bucks which means I lost 2 dollars. Oh well... maybe next time.

A Shinning Light

The other day I was riding to one of my jobs in NC. At that time I was thinking back in the past about moments that were a real disappointment to me. I started to get down and beat myself up a little bit. At the same time Neal Boortz was talking about programming you mind for success. Now my technique may not be the same as his but it works for me. His technique was more or less to just turn negative thinking into positive thinking. Or stay away for the negative all together. My way of trying to better myself is to add fuel to the fire. But Borrtz help me put a spin on it. There are two specific times in my life that I have been disapointed with myself. The first time was in "A" school. I took the first test to qualify for BUD/S training. I passed the test but yet they still told me that I could not go becuase of my orders. Even till this day in my military record it shows nothing of me passing this test. But that was a real diappointment to me. The 2nd time happened just last year. I wanted to be a cop so I went to the VA Beach police department to give it a try. Everything was going smoothly until the monday after the interview. I was disqualified for stuff I did in the past. Now thinking about this stuff was really getting me down in the dumps. But as I sat there listening to Boortz I decided to try my apporach to make this work for me. Instead of thinking about it and getting depressed I thought about it and let it fuel my desire to do something about it. Join the Military again, find a police job elsewhere, or just find something that I really want to do. Then a couple of minutes ago I decided to check out the Sheirffs offices around the area. To my welcoming eyes I see on the page that there is a cities Sheirffs office that I qualify. Norfolk. The City in which I live. Now I have a new goal and more fuel in the fire to proceed with this opportunity.

Have a good day/night,

Marcus

A House

Sorry I have not wrote in a long time. But I think only about 4 people actually read my blog. It's cool. My life from the last blog to this one, in a nutshell. I went to NC for work 3 days in a row. one was a 4.5 hour drive with a 40min ferry ride. I also went to Beaverdam to visit new family members. I had a great time meeting everyone. And I have now bought a house. Now I have to leave

Dear Dad

To this letter I write my Dear Old Dad
I hope this letter don’t make you sad.
You may not think you raised me right
But I have a different opinion to tell you tonight.

Growing up you were a hell of a dad
No matter what type of situation that we have had.
My little league games you were there
On the bench becaused you cared.
Teaching me then how to play the game
Now that I’m older nothing has changed.
Coaching to me the ways of life
It’s now my turn to coach wrong from right.

Growing up you were a hell of a dad
No matter what type of situation that we have had.
There were struggles at time but it was ok
For you worked many jobs to make it day to day.
I saw you work hard to provide what we need
I will never forget such a selfless deed.
Now it’s my turn to show my kids
What it takes to be a father and how hard it is.

Growing up you were a hell of a dad
No matter what type of situation that we have had.
Even though I’m not there I hope you are proud of me
Raising me from the boy to the man that you see.
I know the road of life can be long and rough
But with you by my side I can’t get stuck.
I would like to repay you with this check
For all the times I was a pain in your neck.
On the check it says not null and void
Instead it reads I’m proud to be your boy.

I love you,
Marcus

Back to School

I am very interested in going back to school. Lucky me I have the Gi Bill and also ADT has a reimbursement program. With those 2 things I shouldn't have any trouble paying for school. I just know it is going to take up most of my time. I do have a pretty busy schedule believe it or not. I am wanting to go and get a degree in Business Management. Not only will it be a good degree for ADT but anywhere in the excutive world. Hopefully I can start school soon and get it over with as soon as possible. Let the hunt begin.

Union Workers

I have been interested in unions lately. It might sound odd considering I am a right-winger. I tried doing the research on some pros and cons on them but I can't seem to find much. I think it would be something good for me and some of my co-workers that I know are under paid. The area we live in and the price we make just doesn't make a lot of since. I don't see how we actually make a living. I also understand that it is not all about getting better pay. That is just one of my main concerns. I know not everyone would go for it at my office and I also don't want to be the organizer for it. If anyone out there that my stumble on this blog, if you could be so kind to give a little advice on the pros and cons of unions. For my line of work it would probably be the CWA or IBEW. I know because there is a guy that used to be in these unions at our different offices. Thanks for the help.

Afternoon

Well it is 123 in the afternoon. You might be saying "why are you not at work?" I went to work today and I went to do 2 different jobs. The first job did not have working phone lines and the 2nd job did not have any power in the building. I then went back to the office to get more work but my coordinator was not there. Now you know why I am at home at 123 in the afternoon.

I have not had a post in a while but let me sum up the weekend and the days after. Friday was not only Halloween but my wedding day. It is official. I am now a married man. It was quick and painless. After we got married we went by her work and then mine. That night we met up with our friends Brandon and Jen with their kids to go trick or treating. It was fun. Saturday.. We had a get together at our house. Thank you all that came. We had a great time. Games for the kids and rock band for the adults. I was surprised that people were that into rock band. Needless to say I ended up a little drunk, which has not happened in years. If you don't know I rarely have a drink. Like I said before, we had a great time.

I tried a new energy drink yesterday. Red Bull with cola. I do not recommenced it at all. I took one sip and dumped the rest out on the street. It was that bad. To be honest that about does it for right now. I may put up another post later today.

Politico

Let me clarify a few things from a previous blog. I was speaking about Obama being here in VA, and said something about idiots. Blah blah blah. While I don't care for Obama's viewpoints, I know others do. I respect their opinion as long as they are intelligent. I know Obama isn't the only one out there with idiot voters. McCain has them too. Lets take race for example.. there are white voters voting for McCain just because Obama is black. While at the same time there are black voters voting just because Obama is black. It is indeed sad that people will vote on race not even knowing the viewpoints of the candidates. So the entire "idiot voter" can swing either way. I also listen to a lot of talk radio. I forget which one says this, maybe all, but I agree.. there should be a test to see if you are intelligent enough to vote. A small political test. Come to think of it.. Neal Boortz. If you fail, you can't vote. Also did you know there is no right to vote. That is another thing he likes to argue with his listeners about. Now lets take a 5 question quiz to see if you could vote.

1) Who is the speaker of the house?
2) Who are your state senators?
3) Who is your representative in the house?
4) What is the basis of the 3rd amendment?
5) What is the fair tax? I suggest clicking that link.

So, how did you do? Would you have been able to vote? I didn't even know all of them and I wrote the quiz.

Time for bed. The big wedding is tomorrow.

That is going to about do it for right now. Enjoy your day/night.

Hump Day

Today is a cold windy day around VA. And once again my house has no heat. Hopefully this problem will be corrected tomorrow. If not they will have one angry woman on a rampage. The cold is not so bad for Trish and me, we can handle it. It is the kids that I worry about. But they have been fine. I think they can adapt to the weather easier than us adults.

We just got back from the elementary school for a Halloween carnival. For a school allowing this to go on is amazing. They had a haunted hallway and various games for the kids to play. It was actually a pretty good time. Nothing like a little family outing during the middle of the week.

If you could now direct your attention to the links to the left side of the page... good for you. Now did you see the ones about "No Tapping"? This is a t-shirt company I am starting. Just for fun. I don't expect to make millions from it, but it would be nice. The t-shirts will be directed more towards martial artist, but some shirts could be directed for everyday use. Once the sites are up and running correctly I will let you all know.

I apologize for the shortness of this blog. I have been kind of outta of it the past couple of days.

2 more days till the wedding.

That is going to about do it for right now. Enjoy your day/night.

Curve balls

Today I arrive at work and was handed a really good job that would have made me a lot of money. Yes I said would have. I drive to the address listed on my package of work and find out the space is empty. I then call the number and talk to the contact man who explains to me that the place I am at is not his place of business. Even tho I am looking at the contract with his signature on it with that same address. Not only was I mad but so was the sales rep who is most likely not going to get his commission. I head to the office to get another job. Needles to say, instead of being 2 minutes from my house I now have an hour and a half drive, 8 miles from the Maryland border, and still not getting the pay I would have. Needles to say I enjoyed the drive and made the best of my time. I workout with a gyro ball and a racket ball on long drives. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a good job to make up for the difference I lost today.

Also this evening when I was headed to my martial arts class I pulled up at a red light and a girl from work is beside me. She asked me where a street was and I asked her why. There was a huge Obama rally at Harbor Park. I have never seen that many cars trying to go there. Also at the same time I never realized how many idiots we have living around here. People believe what they want to and you can't change their mind. But when they don't even try to listen to the other side of an argument, in my books they are idiots.

Just 3 more days until the wedding. I know I may not act like it but I am really excited. I just wish I could do more than just a courthouse wedding. Have more family and friends attened. But if you are family and friends back in Atlanta you may be in luck. Next time I come down to visit we are all getting together and having a party. I just have no idea when it will be. There will be one Saturday if you can make it here. It's late and I think I need to go to bed.

That is going to about do it for right now. Enjoy your day/night.

The end of another Day

Today was the first day of me doing commercial installs at my job. I think I really shocked them when I was finished with the jobs they gave me by 11am. Some people would have just went home but I went back to the office for more work. I get paid by the job so there was no way I was going to be lazy and not get more money. Even if Obama tries to take it away. I will fight for what is mine and what I love. And taking my money not just affects me but my family. They come first.

Some of you reading my blog my be enticed by the title. Ways of a Warrior. Let me take this time to explain this to those who are curious. I train in martial arts. No need to talk about the specifics of my art. But to me it is not just a sport or just combat. It is a way of life. In just about every aspect of my life I use my art to get me through day to day. When times are tough I reflect on training and how I should handle certain situations. Changing my lifestyle to better myself and the ones around me. A warrior must be able to adapt to their surroundings and also make their surroundings adapt to them. Therefore within this blog you will see how I handle the stuff that life throws at me.

Also thank you to my beautiful soon to be wife on Friday for doing my graphics on this page. You're awesome.

That is going to about do it for right now. Enjoy your day/night.

Here I Am

If you are reading this blog then you most likely know who I am. If you don't, then maybe you should check back every now and again to see who I am. The reason I am starting to blog is because it came to me as a suggestion by my soon to be wife, (Tricia). By soon I mean next week. She is a package deal. 9 year old Tessa and 5 year old Levi. While most guys would normally shy away from a woman with that situation, I embraced it and took on a huge responsibility. Not only do we have two kids right now, we hope to soon add one more to the family. Also let me take this time to mention Chibi and Miko. Our dogs. And Tenshi and Mashin. Our cats. Yes they are japanese names meaning, small, medium, angel, and devil. If you are not intregued already then there may be something wrong with you. Now that you know a little more about me here is some stuff that you may find in some upcoming blogs, stuff about Tricia, kids, food, entertainment, movie reviews, concerts I attened, martial arts, work, and other things that will occur in my life. To make this first blog a short one but give you guys a treat at the same time let me now show you the pumpkins we got the other day. I suck at carving pumpkins but I did most of the Jack pumpkin (until it started to fall apart on me and I started to get frusrated), and Tricia did the other 2, Zero and a dragon. The one with Jack is Levi's, the one with the dragon is Tessa's, and Zero belongs to Trish and me.That is going to about do it for right now. Enjoy your day/night.
